Here are the steps after downloading the toolkit:
- Install the drivers.
- The toolkit installs drivers, but that didn't work for me on Windows 8.
- Download and install them from the ASUS site
- Enable debugging mode on tablet
- Go to Settings > About
- Tap multiple times on Build Number at bottom
- This will unlock Developer Menu
- Hit the back button and go to the Developer Menu
- Enable USB Debugging
- Plug in the Nexus 7 to your PC via USB
- Run the toolkit and choose your Android version
- If the toolkit can see your tablet, it will list the serial number at the top
- If it cannot, it's most likely a driver issue (re-install drivers/restart PC)
- Select #8 "1-CLICK FOR ALL..."
- Follow the prompts.
- This will take care of everything for you.
Notes:
- I chose to go with TWRP instead of Clockwork
- Because I'm using the newer 4.2 Android, I went with supersu. (Superuser does not support 4.2 yet)
